FLEXIBLE TRANSPORT

The STAR CARBON comes with five specially designed bags that provide optimal protection for the frame, mast, hulls, and sails. The heaviest bag weighs just 19 kg and is easy to handle. Alternatively, the entire catamaran can be packed into just two pack-bags with wheels.

This makes transportation incredibly versatile—whether by car, camper van, or even on a commercial flight!

  • 2 pack-bags with wheels 185 x 30 x 30 cm

  • 1 pack-bag mast for 4 mast sections 170 x 38 x 17 cm

  • 1 protection bag for sail 180 x 30 cm

  • 1 pack-sack for hulls 80 x 45 x 28 cm

ADVANCED HULL DESIGN

The 480 cm convex wave-piercing hulls were developed through tow tank testing to minimize spray and maximize speed. The slightly curved underside ensures exceptionally low resistance, while the pointed bow effortlessly cuts through waves with far less drag than traditional curved tubes. Additionally, the bow shape provides extra buoyancy for additional load capacity on the foredeck. The optimized stern slims down dynamically to a point, improving water separation and reducing drag.

The result? The catamaran glides effortlessly even in light winds. In stronger winds, average speeds can increase by up to 30%, with top speeds exceeding 16 knots.

The hulls are made of durable Grabner car tire rubber, which is particularly robust. With proper care, it lasts for decades and is as easy to repair as a bicycle tire. Additionally, the genuine rubber skin is free from harmful PVC and phthalates, making it an environmentally friendly choice.

FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

The STAR CARBON impresses with its size: it comfortably accommodates up to four people, making it perfect for sailing adventures with family or friends. The flat frame and hulls provide equally comfortable seating options. Optional seat cushions enhance comfort, making longer sailing trips even more enjoyable.

The optional bow deck extends the usable area by a third. Thanks to the sturdy crossbar and side bow reinforcement struts, it is stable enough for sitting, relaxing, or even standing with ease.

REINFORCING BOW BRACES

Durable carbon struts reinforce the bow area, reducing flex in the hulls when riding waves and minimizing drag. The optimized mounting system is now even easier: attach the crossbar, clip in the pelican hooks, and you’re done!

FOREDECK

The new, optimized foredeck significantly expands the usable area. Reinforced with a front crossbar and side reinforcing bow braces, it is stable enough for adults to lie, sit, or even stand on. This feature is especially convenient for boarding via the bow or when you need extra space for gear or relaxing.

The front pocket provides room for two 128 cm paddles. Multiple strap loops on the sides allow you to attach bow deck nets, perfect for stowing ropes, life jackets, or other essentials. Alternatively, custom-designed 53-liter bow deck bags with waterproof zippers can also be secured.

CARBON FRAME WITH HIGH-TECH CORNER PIECES

The specially designed carbon profile features an integrated groove, making it easy to slide in and tension the trampoline with quick fasteners. It is 50% lighter than the aluminum profile used in the EVOLUTION/HURRICANE models.

The corner parts are crafted from a single piece using advanced 5-axis CNC technology, eliminating the need for welds. This ensures they are exceptionally lightweight, precisely fitted to the hull shape, and allow for effortless attachment of the rubber straps. A black hard-anodized coating enhances resistance to scratches and saltwater.

Square plug-in connections provide maximum stability and prevent the frame from twisting.

OPTIMIZED STRAP

The improved strap can be individually tightened with a sturdy buckle, providing optimal support. It runs the entire length of the frame, ensuring all crew members have a secure hold.

SLIP WHEELS WITH AUTOMATIC LOCKING SYSTEM

Two optional slip wheels can be attached to the frame corners.

The optimized design locks automatically when the wheel is folded up or down.

For transport, the wheels can be easily removed without getting in the way.

2-PIECE REAR-DECK AND MOTOR MOUNT

The optional rear-deck extends the stern area and provides space for light gear. Small items like shoes, water bottles, or ropes are securely stored under the fine mesh net, while larger equipment like tents or sleeping bags can be fixed with strap loops. Two rear-decks can be mounted on either side of the rudder.

The motor bracket is attached to reinforced holes in the frame using quick-release fasteners and is optimized for light wind motors up to 3 HP and 22 kg. The mount can be installed for both short-shaft motors (with the short end up) and long-shaft motors (with the long end up). When sailing, the motor is barely noticeable as it is offset to the rear.

Rear-deck, motor mount, and slip wheels can be mounted simultaneously without interfering with each other.

LONG CENTERBOARD

The long centerboard reaches deep into the water and minimizes lateral drift. Sail higher, drift less! The durable aluminum blade automatically releases upon ground contact and can be fully raised when landing.

Thanks to the newly developed quick adapter, the centerboard can be attached to the frame in just a few seconds. This makes setup enjoyable! When packing, it fits flat and compactly into the bags.

KICK-UP RUDDER

The rudder, positioned far at the back, allows for precise steering with minimal effort – almost like servo-assisted steering. The catamaran glides smoothly as if on rails, while the rear-positioned rudder makes tacking easier. Additionally, the tiller doesn’t interfere with the trampoline frame area.

The rudder can be raised or lowered conveniently via the tiller with two locking positions: fully lowered or fully raised. Upon ground contact, the durable aluminum blade automatically releases.

The rudder extension arm is secured quickly and securely with two quick-release fasteners in reinforced holes on the frame.

MAST FOOT JOINT

The mast foot joint allows the mast to be raised and lowered effortlessly by just one person. While sailing, it rotates with the sail and thus ensures an optimum sail profile.

STABLE RIGG

The 4-piece mast of the STAR CARBON weighs only 9 kg, combining stability with lightness. This low weight makes transport, assembly, and righting after a capsize easier. It also provides a late tipping point—while other catamarans may capsize, the STAR CARBON remains stable and forgiving.

The large, oval carbon profile offers maximum stability and safety. The tightly fitted joints make the mast almost watertight, so that it floats briefly in the event of capsizing and can be easily righted by just one person.

Double shrouds ensure a controlled mast bend that harmonizes perfectly with the sail cut. The sail is firmly inserted into the mast’s track, forming a seamless unit with the mast for optimal drive in all wind conditions.

An additional forestay secures the mast independently of the jib sail and allows the sails to be removed when the catamaran is not in use. The optimized 4-point rigging of the carbon bowsprit increases the stability of the rig and adds extra safety.

HIGH PERFORMANCE LAMINATE SAILS

The high-performance laminate sails combine function and design: they offer the best sail profile while looking modern. The laminate fabric stretches less than traditional Dacron. Its construction along the load direction maximizes strength, minimizes stretch, and provides a consistently reliable profile. The material’s transparency creates a sleek look, enhanced by large windows at the bottom for better all-around visibility.

Square Head Mainsail: The 8 m² mainsail is cut wider at the top to offer more propulsion in light winds. Thanks to the boomless design, it expands the sail area downwards, reducing drag and preventing head-butting —ideal for comfort and safety.

Efficient Jib: With 3.5 m², the jib works perfectly alongside the mainsail. The tow points are optimally positioned for sailing higher upwind courses and ensuring maximum propulsion even at beam reach. The endless jib furler makes furling and unfurling effortless - quick, easy and comfortable.

Gentle Handling: Laminate fabrics are sensitive to creases and should always be stored rolled. It’s best to roll both the mainsail and jib together for optimal protection during transport.

JIB HALYARD PULLEY

With the jib halyard pulley, you can easily tension the entire rig by hand. You can check the ideal rig tension when the luff of the jib cannot be moved more than a hand's width to the side. This makes it easy to achieve the perfect tension for maximum performance.

TRAVELLER AND TRIMMING

Traveler: Adjust the hoist point of the mainsheet flexibly by moving the traveler towards the windward or leeward side, depending on the course. Whether reaching, downwind, or close-hauled: By influencing the "twist" of the mainsail, the performance is efficiently increased.

Clew board: Adjust the mainsail profile to the wind conditions by hanging the mainsheet further forward on the clew board in strong winds or further back in light winds - for a bellied or flat sail profile.

Mainsheet: With the 4:1 ratio, the mainsail can be easily controlled by hand, even in strong winds.

TELESCOPIC TILLER EXTENSION

The tiller extension comes as standard with a telescopic function, so you can always keep the rudder firmly and securely in your hand, even when riding out.

How strong is carbon compared to aluminum?

Carbon profiles offer significantly greater stability compared to aluminum. The average breaking load is around four times higher. Areas subject to particularly high loads, such as the shroud attachments or the rudder mount, are additionally reinforced and can withstand the same loads as the proven aluminum versions.

Care for longevity and appearance

To maintain the service life and appearance of your HAPPY CAT, we generally recommend careful handling of the material. The same basic rules apply to the carbon version as to the aluminum version:

After salt water use: Clean the catamaran regularly and thoroughly with fresh water.

Sun protection: Cover the catamaran with the tarpaulin and reduce the pressure in the hulls.

Sail care: Protect the sails from intense UV radiation by removing them and stowing them rolled up in the sail bag without creases.

Further care instructions can be found in the user manual. This will keep your catamaran optimally protected and ready for new adventures at all times!
