22/08/22: Robotican’s Rooster Hybrid System to Undergo Changes After USSOCOM Test

Tel Aviv: The US special operations command (USSOCOM) after testing a limited number of Robotican‘s combined ground- air unmanned systems has asked for some changes. The company expects additional orders next year.

Last year Robotican, an Israeli company delivered a limited number of its Rooster systems to USSOCOM for evaluation.

The Rooster is an unmanned reconnaissance system that enables rapid, live situational-awareness and forward observation in confined spaces, such subterranean environments or inside buildings. The Rooster is the first hybrid unmanned platform that has both land robot and aerial drone capabilities. Combining these two disciplines provides an effective tool for a diverse variety of indoor operations.

According to Johnny Carni, VP marketing of Robotican, the Rooster is a revolutionary autonomous hybrid system for indoor and underground reconnaissance missions, boasting both ground robotic and airborne drone capabilities in one platform for military, HLS and commercial operations.

The system, according to Carni is a critical support asset for combat soldiers, special forces and first responders, capable of rolling over all types of terrain and flying over hostile and dangerous obstacles. These advanced capabilities are bolstered by its technological payload, which rapidly provides live situational awareness in forward observation points, inaccessible indoor locations and in communication-denied environments.

Carni added that the Rooster MESH communication enables the simultaneous operation of three Roosters from the same control unit, relaying communication in indoor, communication-denied environments. The systems is suitable for military missions, as well as for search and rescue missions in locations of risk.

Following the initial delivery to the USSOCOM, a training course was held that included system operation and mission execution in many operational scenarios, such as urban warfare, tunnels, urban and rural warfare, and indoor-mission training.

Carni said that after the initial use the Americans have asked for some changes that are being introduced now.

Robotican specializes in autonomous robotics and drones for challenging operational needs. Since 2013, the company has supplied unique and creative robots and drones. Their products are the result of in-house, multidisciplinary and professional team, abundant with autonomous drone experience.

The operational demand for combined ground-air robotic systems is growing and Israeli companies are working to develop new systems.
